Indivisibles,

Last week we told you that Senate Democrats were meeting to talk through
strategy to get the For the People Act passed. As a reminder, [ [link removed] ]49 of the
50 Democratic senators are co-sponsors of this crucial democracy bill --
only West Virginia’s Joe Manchin isn’t onboard.

At the meeting, Arizona’s Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, who’s been known to
prioritize working with Republicans ahead of getting things done, asked
Majority Leader Chuck Schumer a question: How are Democrats going to pass
their signature ethics and election reform bill?

Sen. Schumer had a simple answer: We’re going to stick together.

Here’s the plain truth: if Senate Dems can stick together as a unified
50-vote bloc, we can abolish the filibuster and use the majority that the
American people elected to get stuff done. If we can stick together, we
can pass the For the People Act, the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, and the
D.C. statehood bill, as well as every other crucial bill that Mitch
McConnell is blocking.

As Sen. Schumer said, these are must-pass bills, and we’re running out of
time to pass them.

It sounds simple, but Democrats aren’t always great at sticking together.
So it’s up to us to make sure our elected officials do what we sent them
there to do. Here’s the best phone call you can make today, depending on
where you live:

* If you’re in Arizona, [ [link removed] ]call Sen. Sinema and tell her it’s time to
abolish the filibuster. While she’s a co-sponsor on many crucial bills
(like For the People), as long as she prioritizes working with
Republicans ahead of passing legislation, she’s not actually helping
us get them passed. Bonus points: [ [link removed] ]Make a video telling her why it’s
important.
* If you’re in West Virginia, [ [link removed] ]call Sen. Manchin and tell him to
co-sponsor the For the People Act. We know calling him can feel like
shouting into the void, but we’ve seen time and time again that when
he hears from his constituents he is moveable, and he will do the
right thing. Our democracy is at stake, and we need you to tell him
so.
* If you’re in another state and have a Democratic senator, [ [link removed] ]call them
to thank them for supporting For the People and to encourage them to
keep working. They’ll be able to keep a record of how many calls they
receive to show their colleagues how much momentum there is behind
this bill.
* If you’re in another state and have a Republican senator [ [link removed] ]click here
to call and tell them to support the For the People Act. While we can
pass this with a simple majority if Manchin and Sinema get onboard
with abolishing the filibuster, we’re not putting all our eggs in one
basket, so it’s still important to call Republicans and show them how
much their constituents care about passing this bill.

Having trouble with our call page, or prefer to call directly? The number
for the U.S. Capitol Switchboard is (202) 224-3121.

OK have you made your call?

We’ll wait.

Call done yet?

We know it takes a few minutes.

Good to go?

OK great.

Now that you’ve called, here’s three more things to do:

* [ [link removed] ]Make a video explaining why you support For the People. We’ll give
you all the directions you need, and then you can share the video with
your friends and we might include it in an upcoming series!
* [ [link removed] ]Join your local Indivisible Group. Indivisible Groups are
communities of activists all over the country, led by activists like
you and supported by organizers from Indivisible’s national office,
and they take action every day to influence their elected officials
and move our priorities forward. Join a local group, or start your own
and we’ll get you all the support you need.
* [ [link removed] ]Watch the For the People explainer video, then share it or donate
to help us spread the word. We’re doing a lot of legwork to make sure
folks understand why For the People matters, from videos like this one
to radio and newspaper ads, call scripts, web hosting, and more. Help
us expand that work by sharing the video or making a donation today.

We know it feels like we’ve been talking about this for years -- we have!
But with this bill poised to come to the Senate floor within weeks, there
really has never been a time when it’s been more important to take action
on it. Thank you in advance for everything you’ll do to empower a
democracy that works for all of us.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
