Her mother worked as a seamstress and heavy equipment operator, while her extended family owned a mom-and-pop landscaping and irrigation business. Melanie herself worked construction and bussed tables to make ends meet. She knows the struggles and challenges Americans face because she’s faced them, too.

What helped Melanie and her family get by? Grit, determination, and the care and support of her community right here in New Mexico. And Melanie has dedicated her life to give back to the community ever since.

Now, she’s ready to continue working for the people of New Mexico’s first congressional district and carry their voices to the halls of power in Washington, but she’s going to need all of us to make it possible.
