I agree with Liz Cheney on very little.

But she has done something far too rare in political life. Over the past few weeks, she has shown the kind of leadership that Kevin McCarthy will never be capable of.

She stood up when it mattered -- but you can’t fix a party that takes orders from a man whose lies incited a mob to build a gallows on the National Mall.

Our Democratic majority is the only thing holding the line against House Republicans who seek to overturn the rule of law and democratic government. Removing Trump was not enough.

Kevin McCarthy and the rest of the GOP leaders have proven themselves to be incapable of extinguishing the worst from their ranks, or of providing support for their best to act with conviction.

The GOP doesn’t deserve to exist as a political party, much less be trusted to lead our country as we recover from a global pandemic.

But national Republicans are just 5 seats away from taking back the House, and their road to victory runs through battleground seats like this one.
