At a time when millions of Americans are still struggling to get back on their feet after the COVID-19 pandemic roiled the economy, Greg Abbott has decided that he’s going to block federal unemployment compensation next month. It's senselessly harmful and will expose Texans to food insecurity, evictions, and will leave many without access to medical care.
Effective June 26, 2021, Abbott will block the supplemental $300 weekly unemployment benefits that have helped so many Texans get through this challenging economy.

This money doesn’t cost Texas anything -- it is federal stimulus paid for by our federal tax dollars and it’s on the table to make sure Texans can pay their rent and feed their families. Once again, Abbott’s cruelty is on full display.
While Joe Biden has worked to put money in people's pockets, Abbott has actively worked to take money out of people's pockets.
There are still one million Texans out of work from the pandemic. Let's make our voices heard on this cruel policy.
