State Representative Melanie Stansbury is the Democratic nominee in the special election to take over Secretary Deb Haaland’s vacant House seat, and we have to have her back.
With such a narrow Democratic majority in the House of Representatives, we can’t afford to lose a single seat. Without our majority, crucial legislation like the American Rescue Plan and the For the People Act wouldn’t have gotten through the House.
We’ll need Melanie in Congress to help pass President Biden’s American Families Plan and American Jobs Plan -- legislation that will help our economy recover and build back better after this pandemic.
We’ll need her in the fight to protect reproductive choice at the legislative level, especially now that Donald Trump’s handpicked Supreme Court justices are set to hear a case that could challenge Roe v. Wade next year. (BTW, Melanie’s opponent has already been endorsed by anti-choice activists.)
And -- let’s not beat around the bush -- we need to elect Melanie to ensure that we don’t end up with another Republican in Congress who doesn’t hesitate to push Trump’s Big Lie or stoke the flames of conspiracy theorists and radicals. We just can’t risk it.
