Dear John,
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has pledged that "One-hundred percent of our focus is on stopping this new administration."
And as the most powerful so-called “entitlement reformer” in Congress, Senator McConnell has made the calculation that he will benefit politically if he continues to block any proposal the comes out of the White House or Congress even if it means improving the welfare of millions of older Americans and our nation’s most vulnerable citizens.
That’s why we need to tell him in no uncertain terms that he’s dead wrong — and that a majority of older Americans, including those in his home state of Kentucky, want him to GET OUT OF THE WAY of much-needed improvements to Social Security and Medicare, including boosting earned benefits, improving the annual Social Security Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) formula, lowering prescription drug prices and making the wealthy pay their fair share into Social Security.
In the past, Senator McConnell has branded earned benefits as the “single biggest threat to our future.”
And for too long, he’s pushed an agenda that favors massive tax breaks for the wealthy at the expense of workers and retirees. As Senate Majority Leader, he refused to bring legislation to the Senate floor that would have lowered drug prices and held Big Pharma accountable for their unfair drug pricing policies.
That’s why we need to remind him that he doesn’t work for Big Pharma, huge insurance companies or Wall Street CEOs. He works for the American people!
With budget deficits rising every day and pressure mounting to reduce our government’s obligations to retirees and workers, we must send our message ASAP.
So please sign our urgent Petition to ensure Senate Minority Leader McConnell knows exactly where you stand: against devastating cuts to Social Security and Medicare and for boosting and improving earned benefits!
Sincerely,
|
