When I was first considering a run for Congress, someone asked me whether there was a political leader who I especially admired, and my answer was Senator Patty Murray, of course!

I had heard the story of a male legislator once telling Patty that she couldn't make a difference because she was "just a mom in tennis shoes," but she proved him wrong. Not only did she become the first woman (and mom) to represent Washington State in the U.S. Senate, but she has delivered real results for Washington families.

As a fellow mom and member of Congress from Washington, I continue to be inspired by the work Patty has done in the Senate. I'm proud to work alongside her to provide COVID-19 relief, expand access to affordable health care, strengthen our economy, and so much more.
