Dear Friend,
Thanks to our members, we continue to chip away at the war on marijuana. In the past two months alone, New York, New Mexico, and Virginia all legalized marijuana for adult use, with Virginia making history as the first state in the South to do so.
But marijuana legalization alone is not enough. Prohibition has ruined lives and disproportionately devastated Black, Brown, and low-income communities. That’s why community reinvestment, social equity, and justice must be at the core of any marijuana reform.
For example, DPA helped pass the Marijuana Reform and Taxation Act (MRTA) in New York, which directs marijuana tax revenue to be reinvested back into communities most harmed by the drug war. From now until May 31st, your gift will be TRIPLED to help us advocate for further reform.
While legalizing marijuana is a vital step to ending the drug war, it must be done the right way. It must atone for the damage done, especially to people of color who are ruthlessly targeted under our draconian drug laws. You can make sure this happens with your support now.
Friend, stand up for your beliefs and join DPA now. Make your gift to DPA now and TRIPLE YOUR IMPACT if we receive it before May 31st, our fiscal-year end.
Together, we’ll not only end the drug war— we’ll repair the harms it caused. The war on drugs is a war on people, and we won’t have it.
Join us. Your gift before May 31st TRIPLES in value and impact.
