Hi team,
I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for the amazing Mother's Day card. I was so honored to see so many folks from the district and around the country take a moment to send love and appreciation on such a special day for mothers everywhere.
Over the past few days, I've been reflecting on what this campaign has meant to me. It's already been over four years since Antonio and I made the decision to do everything we could to be a part of a political movement for change in our country. Little did we know that when we made that decision, years later, we'd all be shaken to our core when the coronavirus plagued our communities and changed our lives forever.
Each of us has had our own unique experiences when it comes to the impacts of COVID-19 -- some folks tragically lost family or friends to the illness, while others were unable to return to their job. And then there were those deemed essential, but still laboring with the uncertainty of how they might safely do their work without contracting the virus.
For me and Antonio, we never expected that along this journey, we'd end up having to homeschool our boys and help them understand how wearing masks will keep them safe from the “germs.”
But team -- this entire journey would've been impossible without you. Your support and willingness to step up for Team Delgado has meant so much.
So today, I wanted to say thank you. Thank you for walking with us every step of the way. And thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to wish me a happy Mother's Day.
