Leadership Weekly

This week's Leadership Weekly is a call to action for nonprofit service organizations to act as hubs of political education and engagement. We have been talking for far too long as a sector about the barriers to doing so: “My board thinks nonprofits can’t do advocacy.” “What if some of our longtime donors balk?” Frankly, in 2021, that resistance is stale; it is out of touch with the severity of our challenges and the mandate to center people most profoundly impacted by them. As Louisa Hackett and Mohan Sikka argue in a new feature today, there are steps leaders can take—from the modest to the more radical—to position their organizations to contribute to social change. Read on for ideas and inspiration about the right next steps for your organization.
