I'm emailing every Women's Marcher because of yesterday's urgent news, John.
News just broke that the Supreme Court agreed to take up an abortion case concerning a controversial Mississippi law that banned most abortions after 15 weeks.
This court case poses a real, direct challenge to Roe v. Wade and the reproductive rights we’ve fought hard to protect. Especially since Trump succeeded in stacking the Supreme Court with anti-abortion, ultra-conservative justices — we need to leverage all of our organizing power to stop the Supreme Court from dismantling Roe v. Wade.
When Women’s Marchers took to the streets in the thousands, it was because we knew this day would come. We may not have been able to stop their nominations, but we will fight tirelessly to make sure Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett hear our message loud and clear: It is their duty to defend what has been law for decades and protect Roe v. Wade.
For years, Republicans have been waging a full out war to reverse Roe v. Wade.
This Supreme Court case is by far their biggest win in years in their fight to dismantle reproductive freedom. We can’t emphasize enough how threatening this court decision could be for the future of women’s rights and reproductive rights.
From day one, we knew Trump would pose a direct threat to our bodies and our right to receive reproductive health care. It’s why we organized to drive Trump out of office and block his Supreme Court nominations for Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett. We succeeded in defeating Trump — but it’s clear that the legacy he left behind in shaping an ultra-conservative Supreme Court still poses danger to our country.
That’s why Women’s March is preparing to mobilize our volunteer force and organizing teams ahead of this court case. We need a massive show of resistance from across the country to make sure the Supreme Court does the right thing and protects the fundamental rights of women in this country. History has taught us that there’s nothing more powerful than women organizing together for our feminist values.
We will not quit now or turn back because we know everything is at stake. We must push forward.
Together,
Rachel Carmona
