John,
My colleague in the House and PA district neighbor, Rep. Madeleine Dean, brought a bipartisan bill on new treatments for opioid use disorder to the House floor last week.
We all expected it to pass with a two-thirds margin, but the GOP shot it down. Why? Because Madeleine refused to allow representatives who voted against certifying Pennsylvania's electoral votes on January 6 to co-lead the bill.
In response, Republicans accused her of “cancel culture” and voted against the bill, even though they agreed with its aims. They prioritized a petty revenge attempt -- and defending insurrectionists who threatened our democracy -- over passing legislation that would help suffering people.
I'm appalled, but I'm not surprised. The GOP has shown us who they are. In fact, they blocked votes on 13 other popular and bipartisan bills that day. These bills would have addressed issues like mental health, substance abuse, and suicide prevention.
This is why we need to fight hard in 2022 -- because Republicans will only do the right thing for American families if it happens to benefit their party.
Everyone thinks the fight for our House majority is far in the future, and as a result, donations to our 2022 efforts have slowed. In reality, if we're not prepared now, we'll fall far behind and be unable to organize to win.
I'm reaching out to you because you're one of my most loyal supporters. I'm hoping I can count on you to do what's best for the district and the country. John, will you donate now to help us continue our fight against Republican obstruction in 2022? Anything you can give
-- $5, $10, $25
-- would mean a lot. Here is the link to give:

Thank you so much -- when incidents like these get me down, knowing I have supporters like you in this fight gives me hope.
Mary Gay
