John — We need to talk about the right-wing recall effort that’s picking up steam here in California.

Governor Gavin Newsom has been under attack from the far right throughout the pandemic, and now it looks like their recall movement has enough signatures to qualify for the ballot.

Let’s be clear: Gavin faced a once-in-a-generation crisis and rose to the task with his administration’s pandemic response. His proactive measures and leadership saved lives, and removing him from office would only roll back the progress we’ve made to rebuild and recover.

This recall effort is just a shameless power grab from California Republicans who see an opening to undermine the will of voters and take the governorship. With re-election just a year away, they know their easiest path to victory is through a shady recall — not by winning at the ballot box.

Gavin has my unequivocal support, and now I’m calling on grassroots supporters like you to show Democratic unity in the face of this right-wing recall.
