Dear JOhn,
In Mali, a landlocked country in western Africa, more than half of the agricultural labor force are women and youth. But they lack access to training, facilities and land and livestock ownership.
Our grassroots initiatives in the regions of Segou and Sikasso aim to empower women and young farmers with sustainable land and water management practices while increasing access to land, water, livestock and local markets.
1,200 households have received climate smart agriculture training. Access to conservation techniques help sustainably safeguard livelihoods against droughts, foods and variable rainfall.
741 acres of land have been allocated to women and youth farmers. Our participative, inclusive approach engages workers, community leaders and farmer organization leaders.
280 goats have been procured and distributed locally. Livestock ownership helps diversify revenue sources and increases resilience to climate impacts.
With much more to come in 2021 and beyond, we’re helping communities lay foundations for food security. Will you join us to continue the success of our Mali agriculture initiative and others like it across Africa? Donate today.
