Friend --
From George Floyd to Andrew Brown,
the police killing of Black and brown people has to stop. As we’ve said to Durham city and county leaders, we need
to move funding from armed law enforcement and jails to alternative
models that can keep us all safe and well.
That’s why we’re excited to
announce that People’s Alliance has signed on in
support of the 10 to Transform campaign led by our partners, Durham
Beyond Policing and Durham for All.
The 10 to Transform campaign is
about moving money away from police and sheriff's departments and
investing in what our communities really need to thrive: unarmed,
skilled, and compassionate crisis response and robust mental
healthcare.
Learn
more about this campaign by attending the 10 to Transform Town Hall
this Thursday, May 20, 6:00 - 8:00pm. We’ll dream in community about what’s
possible and hear from our local elected officials about whether they
support the campaign’s demands.
You can also support Durham for All
and Durham Beyond Policing by uplifting their demands to the city and
county:
Finally, you can join me (Millicent) LIVE tonight at 8:00pm
on Instagram with Durham for All (@durhamforall). I’ll be sharing about what safety means to me
and why, as well as the needs and possibilities I see every day in my
community.
