John --
Even by the low standards the Republican Party has set for itself, last week was a shock.
House Republicans voted to strip Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney of her leadership role because she spoke out against the Big Lie that Donald Trump had the 2020 presidential election stolen from him.
While Cheney was delivering her speech on the floor of the House before the vote was taken, Hawaii Sen. Brian Schatz summed up the consequences on Twitter.

Sen. Schatz means that the current Republican electoral strategy revolves around baseless accusations of voter fraud and suppressing the vote in states all across the country. And by removing Cheney from the number 3 leadership position in the House Republican caucus, they are signaling that anything less than 100% loyalty to the Big Lie and Trump will not be tolerated.
Sen. Schatz is up for reelection in 2022 -- and he's a strong voice for our democracy that we can't afford to lose. If you want more bold, progessive leaders in Washington like Brian Schatz, can you contribute $10 or $25 right now? We're only $876 away from today's fundraising goal, and your support would make a huge difference. >> [link removed]
