What do you envision when you think of teens — perhaps even your teen — using marijuana? Are they with friends and sharing a joint?

The reality may surprise you.

Today’s marijuana is more discreet and more potent. It can be in the form of a vape, which may be flavored. It can even be in the form of gummy bears or other familiar candies and snacks. Vaping, flavorings and edibles make it easy for kids to hide their use, and it’s also easier to overconsume. In fact, with marijuana edibles such as baked goods or candy, it can take much longer to feel an effect compared to smoking marijuana. Kids may overindulge to feel the effects more quickly — with harmful results.

Marijuana, no matter how it is used, harms teen health. The health effects are the same whether marijuana is smoked, vaporized or swallowed.
