Hello Friend,
I see it in my community, and I know it’s happening across the country. The pandemic has hit students hard.
207,000 people in Canada lost their jobs last month, and almost half were youth. As the summer job season begins, pandemic restrictions and lockdowns are still in place in many provinces, and students and recent graduates are struggling to find work.
The message is clear: the Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB) must be brought back for summer 2021 so students don’t fall through the cracks.
Please help us deliver this message to the government by signing our letter to Prime Minister Trudeau and Finance Minister Freeland calling for immediate return of the Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB), to match the Canada Recovery Benefit.
Bring Back CESB
Supporting students through the CESB makes our society more equitable and resilient, and supports access to education — a fundamental right, and one of the best investments we can make in our future.
Once you’ve written to express your support for reinstating the CESB, please spread the word.
Can you share this campaign with your community and get 10 friends to add their names? Could you send the link to your colleagues, or your Facebook group of parents, or your student society? You could even send this letter to your MP!
Please help us spread the message: #BringBackCESB
Almost everyone knows a student who is struggling. With classes done, Canada in a third wave, and a dismal summer job market, students can't work jobs that don't exist. They need the CESB just as much as they did in summer 2020.
