Everyone, from regular citizens to policymakers, needs data to understand how the United States government serves the people. Without it, the nation cannot work together on solutions to issues affecting the country. The USAFacts Annual Report is here to help ([link removed]) by providing a detailed look at how government programs impact society. It’s a trove of information compiled exclusively by USAFacts.

* The average Medicare cost per beneficiary was $14,151 in 2019. Most expenses went toward Part A, which supports costs for hospitals, and Part B, for medical and preventative care services.

* The middle 20% also paid $15,748 in taxes and received $19,031 in government transfers like welfare, financial aid, and social security before the pandemic. That’s less market income than in 2000 when adjusted for inflation, due to people retiring from the labor force, among other factors.

* Middle-class earners received $6,853 more in government transfers and paid $1,561 less in taxes in 2018 than in 2000.

This annual report is a key to understanding where the nation stands on dozens of issues. It has metrics and measurements from federal, state, and county records, plus the context behind that data. * Asian Americans are 23% of workers in computer and mathematical occupations, while making up 6.4% of the overall workforce. They’re also 32.8% of computer hardware engineers and 31% of medical scientists.

* Asian Americans also make up a disproportionate share of workers in personal care and services jobs, including hairdressers, childcare workers, and nail stylists. Seventy percent of people working as manicurists and pedicurists are Asian American.

Happy Tax Day
Today is the extended tax deadline for individuals. To mark this day, USAFacts is releasing its fifth annual US Government 10-K ([link removed]) , the most comprehensive accounting of how American tax dollars are collected and spent on all levels.

See what more than 10 years of government financial data reveal, including how the number of Americans receiving government food assistance grew by 12% in 2020 or how federal individual income tax revenue rose in the first year of The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

This 10-K report is written with the belief that Americans are the nation’s stakeholders and should benefit from the same level of rigor afforded to shareholders of publicly traded companies. View it here ([link removed]) .
