Today, the Supreme Court announced that they’re going to hear a case about Mississippi’s ban on abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy—which means that Roe v. Wade could be overturned.

The far-right GOP wants to take away access to reproductive care despite the fact that a majority of Americans and Virginians agree that abortion should be legal, safe, and accessible. The best way to protect the right to choose is to elect leaders in every state in the US that will stand up to any attempt to take it away.

Here in Virginia, we can’t risk electing an anti-choice Lt. Governor who would most likely be a deciding vote in the State Senate. The Republican nominee for Lt. Governor has been vocal about where she stands on this critical issue—and it’s on the wrong side of history.

If I’m the Democratic nominee for Lt. Governor, I won’t let us roll back the clock on abortion access. I will use my power to help enshrine the right to choose into Virginia’s constitution. But we have to win this election first.
