Friend,

For years, Donald Trump wielded social media as a weapon to promote dangerous conspiracy theories, launch vicious personal attacks on his opponents, and incite violent rage among his supporters.

Trump’s behavior not only debased the office of the presidency – it also led to violence. When a violent mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, they did so in part because they believed Trump’s Big Lie about the election – a lie Trump spread almost daily on social media. The insurrection may never have happened if Trump had been banned from social media sooner.

After the insurrection, social media companies like Facebook and Twitter banned Trump from the platform for an indefinite amount of time. But now – just as our country is getting back on track under President Biden’s steady leadership – Trump wants his accounts back. The impact of allowing this would be both swift and substantial.

As the social media giants deliberate on whether they will let Donald Trump back on their platforms, it’s incumbent on people like you to share where you stand. That’s why I’m counting on 1,000 people, including you, Friend, to answer this one-question survey right now:

Should Donald Trump be permanently banned from social media?

Thank you for making your voice heard,

Dick
