John --
You can learn a lot by following the money in politics. And if Ted Cruz's spending on Facebook is any indication, he may be the first Republican to join the 2024 presidential race.
New reporting shows that Cruz spent more on Facebook ads in the past two months than any senator besides Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock. The difference is that Sen. Warnock is facing a tough reelection campaign in 2022, while Cruz isn't up for reelection to the Senate until 2024.
Experienced people in Washington say that this is the kind of move you only make when you plan on running for President. Evidently, Ted Cruz wants the White House for himself.
His candidacy would be a new disastrous chapter for the Republican Party and for our country. This is a man who called Donald Trump a “sniveling coward” and a “pathological liar” during the 2016 Republican primaries before endorsing him and faithfully doing his bidding during Trump's four years in office. He's embraced the far-right's racist fear mongering on immigration and the origins of the coronavirus. He left his constituents to die while he ran off to Cancun during the catastrophic snowstorm in Texas this past winter.
Ted Cruz thinks he can buy his way into the White House with that kind of record. We can't let that happen.
