Hi, Tens of thousands of Demand Progress members have signed
their name to [ [link removed] ]this urgent petition to support legislation stopping U.S.
funds from being used by the Israeli military to kill Palestinians and
destroy their homes. This momentum is helping change the conversation in
Congress toward peaceful solutions and away from U.S. support for violent
acts against Palestinian civilians. We explain more about the bill in the
email below. [ [link removed] ]Can you add your name to the petition now? Thank you!

[ [link removed] ]Will you tell President Biden and Congress to stop U.S. funds from
being used to kill Palestinians and take their homes?

You've probably seen press coverage or social media posts about the
violence in the Middle East, which has left more than 100 Palestinians
dead, including children. And Israel's military just destroyed a building
being used by media outlets including the AP and Al Jazeera.^1

But most mainstream coverage doesn't tell you that the violence is
lopsided. Israel's military and their powerful weaponry, funded by the
United States, are responsible for the overwhelming majority of those
killed and injured over the last few days.

This includes the deaths of Palestinian children and possible war crimes
like the destruction of a civilian apartment complex in Gaza.^2

It's time for Congress to act. Rep. Betty McCollum has proposed new
legislation that would prevent U.S. funding to Israel from being used to
violate the human rights of Palestinians.^3 Numerous progressives in
Congress have co-sponsored this bill, but we need more allies to help it
pass. Can you speak up in this urgent moment?

The Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living
Under Israeli Military Occupation Act would prevent U.S. funds from being
used by Israel to oppress the Palestinian people, take their land,
bulldoze their homes, and numerous other actions that have undermined
peace and justice.^4

Congress has the power and the responsibility to help stop this. Rep.
McCollum put it well last month when proposing her legislation:

"Peace can only be achieved by respecting human rights, especially the
rights of children, and this includes the U.S. taking responsibility for
how taxpayer-funded aid is used by recipient countries, Israel included.
Congress must stop ignoring the unjust and blatantly cruel mistreatment of
Palestinian children and families living under Israeli military
occupation."^5

There's no time to lose. Will you send an urgent message to President
Biden and your representatives in Congress?
