For 18 years, American soldiers have fought in Afghanistan. Over 2,400 of
those soldiers are now dead, alongside at least 38,000 Afghani civilians.
And yet, there’s still no end in sight.

Experts estimate that we’ve spent almost $6 trillion on wars in the Middle
East since 2001 — and what do we have to show for it? Just more death and
instability.

That $6 trillion could have been invested in new infrastructure, higher
education, job programs for communities that have been left behind,
broadband access, health care, and so much more.

Today, the Afghanistan war turns 18 years old — meaning that kids who were
born after the war started can now fight in it. That’s a full generation
of bloodshed, and we must end it together.
