The Supreme Court just announced that it will hear Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, a case challenging Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban.

This is the first case the court will hear on abortion since Justice Amy Coney Barrett—an outspoken opponent of reproductive freedoms—was appointed last fall. And with a 6-3 conservative majority, I am deeply concerned about the outcome of this case.

I’m not exaggerating when I say this could mark the beginning of the end of Roe v. Wade. 

But here’s what I can promise you: I will fight with every fiber of my being to protect our right to abortion and reproductive health care. 

That starts with passing the Women’s Health Protection Act in the Senate, which would prohibit state laws that ban abortions or block access to reproductive health care. It also means protecting and expanding our Senate majority so that Mitch McConnell doesn’t control which justices get on the Supreme Court.
