Today is the extended federal tax deadline. If you haven’t filed your federal taxes, or an extension, you have until midnight tonight!
This morning, the Treasury Department announced that the expanded Child Tax Credit, which passed as part of the American Rescue Plan, will be delivered to nearly 39 million American families beginning July 15.
With this targeted support to needy families with children, we are projected to cut child poverty in half this year. That’s an extraordinary achievement and real relief for far too many families struggling to make ends meet.
Now, we must commit to making the expanded Child Tax Credit permanent as part of a fairer and more just tax code. It’s a scandal that our country has one of the highest rates of child poverty among wealthy nations. We must do everything we can to fix this — and end child poverty in America.
I am committed to working with the Biden Administration and my colleagues in the Senate to get this done.
Will you stand with us and sign my petition to show your support for making the expanded Child Tax Credit permanent?
Thank you. The work to advance justice and equity and expand opportunities for all children and families continues.
