Three Steps to Being an #IDAHOBIT / #IDAHOTB Advocate (While You’re Stuck at Home)

Just because you’re staying in, and times are tough, doesn’t mean you can’t recognize the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (#IDAHOBIT or #IDAHOTB). So, stay safe and take these steps to engage

  1. Learn: Read about the history of the day and why May 17 was selected for such an important visibility and awareness event. You can also learn more about the experiences of LGBTQ+ people globally--did you know you can be sentenced to death for being gay, lesbian, or bisexual in 11 countries?--by checking out some of resources from ILGA World.
  2. Watch: Watch some of the videos available from UN Free & Equal and the videos that may17.org has featured on their Facebook page and Twitter feed.
  3. Share: Check out the posters available from may17.org, download your favorites, and share them on social media using #IDAHOTB or #IDAHOBIT. Be sure to like and follow may17.org and their partners so that you can elevate their posts today and all year long!

Fulton Decision Day at the Supreme Court is coming

Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court heard the case Fulton v Philadelphia. The decision could mean that nearly any religious entity, or even a private company asserting its religious beliefs, would have permission to refuse to serve or work with anyone simply because of who they are. This could include denying services to people who are LGBTQ+, single women, divorced, Jewish, Muslim or Mormon people.

We’re inviting you to join us on #DecisionDay for both our Virtual Rally followed by our Virtual Town Hall. The rally will be a chance for us to gather together as a community to react to the decision, support each other and hear from speakers and performances. Then the Town Hall will feature experts providing analysis of the opinion, how it will affect our lives, and what still needs to be done.

RSVP now to be notified when a decision is in and our events will take place!
