Susan Collins showed her true colors when she not only supported Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination last year, but took an active role in Trump and McConnell’s scheme to take over the Court, giving a speech in support of Kavanaugh that was a cornerstone of the GOP’s sham confirmation process. Even though more Americans believed Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony than Brett Kavanaugh’s defensive rambling, Collins proudly chose to side with the men antagonizing victims of sexual assault, lending her credibility to a cruel, backwards movement to discredit women. It was a disgusting piece of political theater that we’ll never forget.

The GOP rushed Kavanaugh through a sham confirmation process: the FBI didn’t bother to interview the classmates who came forward to corroborate Deborah Ramirez’s story, no one got clear answers on how up to $200,000 in debt was magically paid off in the year leading up to Kavanaugh’s nomination, and the public still hasn’t seen key records from Kavanaugh’s time in the Bush administration. Susan Collins knew all of this when she announced her decision to confirm Kavanaugh to a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court, but she put her relationship with McConnell and Trump over Mainers’ needs.
