Danielle already mentioned that the GOP redistricting efforts will have a huge impact on our alums and affiliates across the country.

And Colorado is no exception.

With the addition of a congressional district, we have an opportunity to elect more Democratic women than ever before.

I wanted to share some insight directly from our affiliate on what this means, so please take a minute to read the note below from Emma Piller of Emerge Colorado.

With a win rate of 88%, in 2020 alone Emerge Colorado won 24 races and sent five new state legislators to the Capitol. A total of 63 alums currently hold elected office in our state and we couldn’t be more proud of our impact!

From legislation to cut healthcare costs by up to 20% to the fight for gun violence prevention measures, our alums lead on critical issues.

And with news of Colorado’s expanding congressional map, we’re taking this opportunity to expand the bench of candidates ready to run by preparing them with the skills they need to win.

Too often, first-time candidates, specifically women, and people of color are told to wait their turn to run for office. Emerge exists on the ground in so many states because the status quo of women waiting a decade (or more!) to run for office is unacceptable – and we know exactly what it takes to change that.

We aren’t going to sit by and watch the same men get elected to yet another decade of power.

Emerge is invested in changing the face of politics and supporting women who have been underrepresented for too long.
