If you thought 2021 was going to be an off-year without any exciting elections, then we’ve got some news for you.

We’ve already told you about this year’s elections in Virginia. And now, there’s a special election in Ohio that could shift the tides in Washington, D.C. and put another voice for our movement straight into office.

Sunrise is thrilled to announce our endorsement of Nina Turner to represent Ohio’s 11th Congressional District! In a moment, we’ll explain why we’re all in for this race. But first, you can help us send Nina to Congress by chipping in here.

For many of us in the movement, Nina needs no introduction. She worked as a co-chair of Bernie Sanders’ 2020 campaign, where she championed the Green New Deal and called for a climate debate at a time when we so desperately needed to put climate action at the center of the political conversation.

Now, Nina is running for Congress on a progressive platform focused on environmental, racial, and economic justice. She’ll put the Green New Deal front and center right alongside Medicare For All, a living wage for all workers, and housing as a human right — not a commodity.

Senator Turner comes into this race with a wealth of experience. Her time as a Cleveland City Councillor and Ohio State Senator has made her a household name from Cleveland to Akron. Likewise, her work on two campaigns for president and as the head of Our Revolution have made her incredibly popular nationwide; setting her up to be the strongest progressive contender to win this seat vacated by now-HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge.

Here’s the thing, John: Nina needs our help now more than ever. The primary election to decide who wins this seat is less than three months away.

Our hubs in Ohio have already taken action in supporting Nina’s bid for Congress. Now, they need us to do our part to win this race. That’s why we’re putting the strength of our movement behind Nina’s campaign — and it’s why we’re asking you to chip in any amount today to support her campaign.
