Dear Colorado Republicans,

When you elected me, I promised to travel to all 64 counties in my first year. I'm well on my way to doing this. Over the weekend, I met with great Republican leaders in Gunnison, Hinsdale, Mineral, La Plata, Montezuma, Archuleta, Rio Grande, and Saguache counties.

Earlier in the week, I strategized with legislative leaders and one of our large Denver Metro counties on how we are going to unite together, brand ourselves as Republicans, and win seats in 2022.

As the legislative session heads into its final month, please continue to speak out about bills where the Democrats are trying to control the lives of Coloradans, including:

HB 1295 -- this bill would largely take away the ability for parents and charter schools to appeal the decision of an anti-charter school board.
SB 260 -- this bill would raise our taxes exponentially without voters' permission.
HB 1232 -- the public health "option" would devastate rural hospitals and could delay or deny health care to children.
SB 87 -- this bill creates unrealistic standards that would put family farms and ranches out of business. Use this easy contact form to email Democrats and ask for necessary changes to this bill.

‘Back the Blue’ resolution rejects defunding police

Fort Morgan Times: A four-page Back the Blue resolution re-introduced Wednesday by Rep. Ken Buck, R-Windsor, recognizes the sacrifice of law enforcement officers, while rejecting efforts to defund and dismantle law enforcement agencies.

“I am proud to introduce this resolution recognizing the brave men and women in law enforcement throughout our nation who serve on the front lines every day,” Buck said following the introduction of the legislation.

He has been joined by Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colorado Springs, along with Republican co-sponsors of the resolution from two other states.

“State, local and federal law enforcement officers bravely protect our families and selflessly defend our communities,” said Buck, who formerly served as Weld County’s district attorney. “Law enforcement is a crucial component to preserving our country’s peace and prosperity. I am incredibly grateful for our law enforcement — today, and every day.”

Boebert: Let me draw your attention to the crisis at our southern border

Denver Post: I wasn’t about to let Hidin’ Biden get away with not mentioning the crisis he created at the southern border during his address to Congress, so I forced the fake news media to cover it by wearing the same kind of Mylar blanket that the Biden administration is giving to the record-setting 18,000 unaccompanied minors in their custody who have come over the border in recent months. When children are sleeping in tin foil blankets, that’s a crisis. Real leaders address crises, but President Joe Biden punts them to his ever-absent number two, Vice President Kamala Harris.

The recently appointed border czar, Harris, seems to have taken her leadership strategy right out of Biden’s lead-from-the-basement playbook. Rather than visiting the border to see the humanitarian crisis her administration created, she’s spent the past few weeks visiting her friends in San Francisco and going yarn shopping. Maybe she should visit the border and crochet some blankets for the kids her administration has locked up in cages?

GUEST COLUMN: Family budgets beset by politician's plans

Colorado Springs Gazette: It’s never a good sign for your family budget when the word “fee” appears 485 times in a bill. Colorado Senate Democrats are using that word to sell a massive tax increase dressed up as an infrastructure plan. Senate Bill 21-260 is nearly 200 pages long, creates four departments of government called “enterprises,” is loaded with big thoughts about “climate justice,” and would cost Colorado taxpayers $5.3 billion.

There is no doubt Colorado needs to upgrade its roads and bridges. You can’t drive in El Paso County without swerving around potholes. Now that the pandemic appears to have crossed a tipping point, wait times are building again to get from Colorado Springs to Denver.

The fact that Colorado legislators are paying attention to our infrastructure problems should be a win. But SB 260 is more about building government than building roads.
