Team,
Two years ago today, Chris helped pass the historic Equality Act for the first time. As the first openly gay Congressman from New Hampshire, Chris knows how important freedom from discrimination and the guarantee of legal equality are. But Mitch McConnell let the bill die in the Senate while millions of LGBTQ Americans watched.
Now Chris has stepped up and helped pass the Equality Act AGAIN. This time we have to make sure the Senate takes action.
Will you add your name to call on the Senate to take up the Equality Act for a vote?
Twenty-seven states still have no laws in place to protect LGBTQ Americans from being discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. The Equality Act would change that by prohibiting discrimination against LGBTQ Americans in education, housing, employment, public accommodations, and the jury system in every state.
LGBTQ Americans can't afford to wait for equal protections any longer. More anti-trans bills have been introduced or passed in state legislatures across the country this year than ever before -- over 100 bills in 33 states.
We need to show grassroots support for this legislation now. Add your name to tell the Senate it's time to bring the Equality Act to a vote.
Thank you,
Team Pappas
