For 18 years, our troops have been at war with Afghanistan, John.

That makes it America’s longest war ever.

And under Trump, America’s policy in the Middle East is only getting worse.

With Trump’s childish temper tantrums and hawkish military policies, it’s never been more clear that we need to repeal the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF).

Since 2001, the AUMF has allowed any president to declare war at any time, with any country, regardless of the devastating consequences and without approval from Congress as laid out in the Constitution.

Trump’s dangerous policies threaten lives across the globe. Sign our petition now to demand Congress repeal the AUMF and take away Trump’s power to declare war.

Just this weekend Trump announced he was going to reverse our long-standing policy and withdraw troops from Syria, allowing Turkey to invade and target American-backed Kurdish forces. Make no mistake: this is a reckless and dangerous decision that will only lead to more instability in the region.

Even Senator Lindsey Graham, one of Trump’s biggest supporters who doesn’t think anything else Trump does is wrong, has come out and said this decision is a total disaster.

And of course, after pulling out of the historic Obama-negotiated nuclear deal with Iran, Trump has pushed us dangerously close to war -- ordering airstrikes on the country and then changing his mind with just minutes to spare.

We’ve all seen the damage unchecked war can do. It’s destroys civilian cities, ruins economies, exacerbates world hunger, and takes hundreds of thousands of lives -- most of them children.

Sign our petition now demanding Congress reassert their Constitutional authority to declare war and peace and take away this power from an unstable man like Trump.

While we work day in and day out to build the resources to kick Trump out of office in 2020, Congress, led by the House, can still stop this reckless president and his hawkish military advisors from starting the next chapter of endless war.
