May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, a period of recognizing the contributions and influences of AAPI people to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.
Reproaction feels that this year, we must also shine a spotlight on and continue to condemn the ongoing racist, sexist attacks against Asian American and Pacific Islanders. 2020 saw a rise in targeted crimes against Asian people by nearly 150 percent [1], a horrifying statistic everyone must be working against.
There are many, many ways we all can help the AAPI community including donating to and supporting AAPI groups on the ground doing direct assistance, speaking out if you witness a hate crime or incident, taking part in bystander intervention training, and having potentially tough conversations with your friends, family, and colleagues about bias.
