Let's dive in to the six countries we work in and shine a spotlight on tree-planting in Ethiopia.

Dear amazing Send a Cow supporter,

How did you get on with our challenge of thinking of three moments each day that make you smile? We have so many more stories to share with you, that I'm certain will help to bring a smile to your face.

There is incredible work going on across the six countries we work in, with programs in Burundi,  Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Zambia. Our African-designed solutions are developed with the people we work with in each country, so we want to bring their stories directly to you.

Burundi

Burundi is one of the hungriest countries in the world. Since 2013, we have brought training and hope to families just like this, who really need it.

Ethiopia

We have worked with thousands of families in Ethiopia since 2006. The majority of the population are smallholder farmers, making our work so vital.

Kenya

Since 1996, we have established projects in the underdeveloped Western province, which is a world away from the famous beaches and safari parks.

Rwanda

The Rwandan genocide in 1994 left a legacy of troubles for the country. But there is hope for the future and for female farmers like Claire here.

Uganda

Since Send a Cow was founded in 1988, we have worked in Uganda. Through the years we have worked with over 40,000 households.

Zambia

Zambia is our smallest country program but we hope to grow over the next few years, to reach even more vulnerable families.

A Spotlight on Tree-Planting in Ethiopia
For several years, Ethiopia lost billions of trees due to a lack of awareness around afforestation and sustainable development. In 2019 this all changed when Ethiopia's government launched a nationwide tree-planting campaign. Tree-planting is an important aspect of our projects, as it helps to capture greenhouse gases and prevent soil erosion

Planting trees is actually an essential part of our project work across all six countries, as it helps us in the fight against the climate crisis. But we'll save that for another day.
