John,
Last weekend, there were at least 10 mass shootings across the US -- and those were just the ones that made the news. And when my team gets back to the office tomorrow morning, I'm sure that number will grow as we hear the saddening statistics from this week.
There have been over 140 mass shootings in our country since January. Gun violence has become the second leading cause of death for children in this country and the number one cause of death for Black children.
Last month, President Biden announced six executive orders to curb gun violence -- but there's only so much that the president can do alone. In order to ensure that gun violence truly becomes a thing of the past, Congress must fill in the gaps by reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act and closing background check loopholes.
With the filibuster still in place, though, we hardly have a prayer of getting this legislation through Congress and keeping our citizens safe. Mitch McConnell has already said he opposes expanding background checks and refused to suggest any ways to curb the constant gun violence. We need to overcome his partisan opposition with action -- but that means I need your help.
We're best equipped to fight for both ending the gun violence epidemic and eliminating the filibuster when we meet our fundraising goals -- and we came up $197 short of our fundraising benchmark last week. If we miss our goals, we'll be playing catch-up for the rest of the quarter and maybe even the rest of the cycle.
John, will you contribute $10, $25, or anything you can to help us meet our fundraising goals, stand with President Biden, and fight the GOP as they block legislation that would save lives? You can give at this link:

Thank you so much for standing on the side of commonsense policy.
