Wanted you to hear from me personally

Real Justice

Hey John, it's Larry Krasner.

I am humbled, truly.

Yesterday, hundreds of volunteers and organizers took to the streets of Philadelphia with our campaign in the run-up to Tuesday’s election. And I wanted to take a moment before the election to thank you for that personally.

Together — at the most critical point in this entire election — our campaign knocked on more than 2,341 doors to talk with Philadelphians about the future of our city.

These conversations were often difficult. Heartbreaking, even — as is so often the case when speaking with victims of police brutality and mass-incarceration.

It meant so much to me personally that Jimmy Dennis and Anthony Wright joined us to campaign yesterday. It’s been the honor of my life to stand with these men who were wrongly convicted by my predecessors.

Their stories are a stark reminder about everything that’s at stake in this election.

On one side, we have crooked police unions and right-wing PACs trying to uphold a brutal, racist, unjust status quo.

On the other side, is you — all of us. Volunteers, small-dollar donors — ordinary people of Philadelphia — working to hold police accountable, defend working families, and fight back against the mass-incarceration machine.

People like Megan, who has been volunteering to knock on doors because, as a medical student, she cares deeply about the safety of everyone in the community. She supports building an overdose prevention site. And people like Noah, who is knocking on doors because he knows a civil rights lawyer needs to be behind the DA’s desk. As long as DA’s exist, Noah believes they should be advocates for the community.

YOU all are the reason I ran for office in 2017.

YOU are why we won that race.

And YOU are why we’re going to win again on Tuesday. But I’m going to need you to step up in a big way, one last time.

John, please sign up right now for a phonebank to turn out as many voters as possible on Tuesday. We can win this, but it’s going to take all of us.

We are going up against a powerful, corrupt political machine — no denying that. And they’re pouring unlimited resources into this election to roll back all the progress we’ve made over the last three years.

We can’t let them succeed.

Please, if you can, sign up for our Election Day phonebank.

Thank you,

Larry Krasner
Philadelphia District Attorney
