Dear John,
When I saw this story, I knew you would want to hear about it.
"[Democratic Senators] Harris, Sanders, Booker campaigned at Vegas church led by pastor who calls being gay a sin." -- Mercury News
That was the "shocking" August 5 headline in one of California's most influential newspapers--a story soon repeated across the media echo chamber.
The article criticized several Democratic officials for speaking at a Baptist church in Las Vegas, Nevada where the pastor has long upheld biblical views on marriage and sexuality.
Even aside from other questions it raises, the story itself sent a message: people who hold biblical beliefs are not welcome in the public square.
Clearly, we are in the midst of a battle for the heart and soul of America.
As debates rage in our culture, Family Research Council exists to bring clarity to citizens and leaders on the issues that matter. But FRC can only do it with your ongoing support!

We don't need to look far to figure out who planted that "news report." It quotes Equality California, one of the nation's largest lobbying groups on behalf of the LGBTQ agenda.
But how did that Baptist pastor square his biblically orthodox beliefs with inviting politicians who champion abortion and same-sex marriage to speak at his church?
It's a question my friend Bishop Harry Jackson, pastor of a multi-ethnic church here in the Washington, D.C. area, addressed directly on FRC's national radio show Washington Watch.
"There is a tendency right now for [people] to go with Democratic choices and freedoms and good things that are promised, like free college," said Bishop Jackson, "--Instead of saying, 'At what price do I want free college? Am I willing to violate something so sacred such as human life or marriage?'"
Local pastors and all Americans of faith should be pondering Bishop Jackson's insights.
Meanwhile, those liberal politicians quickly distanced themselves from the pastor's past stance on sexuality. Responding to their own leftist media allies in the wake of the report, they reiterated unwavering support for LGBTQ advocacy as a core part of the Left's agenda.
Now is not a time for sitting back and watching liberals turn on one another (as entertaining as that might be). We must be active, not passive.
Believers who follow God's Word, and trust Him to give direction for our lives, will not be fooled by doubleminded rhetoric. We know pro-family policies create conditions where all Americans have opportunities to flourish. And we know politicians' records.
On our Washington Watch radio program, I often interview pastors and faith leaders from across America who give us insights on the threats to religious liberty they are facing.
Will you help FRC maintain our costly media presence to ensure that concerned citizens--and leaders in the halls of government--are informed from a biblical perspective?

As followers of Jesus Christ, we have a responsibility to live out our faith, not hide it under a bushel.
Jesus warned us that, just as people rejected and persecuted Him, they would do the same to His followers. While the persecution in the U.S. is nowhere near the level we see in totalitarian regimes like China and North Korea, we must not ignore the warning signs.
Leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives are proposing laws that would severely limit you and me from preaching the whole counsel of God, particularly on issues of sexuality and marriage.
So many Americans are not informed about where the Left's radical policies would lead us. Too many Christians have yet to be discipled on what the Bible has to say about these core issues affecting our faith, our families, and our freedoms.
With a team of experts who care about facts and morality, we at FRC will not stop standing for and speaking the truth. Your sacrificial gifts enable FRC to voice your values coast-to-coast... in the media, in the heartland, and on Capitol Hill.
