Our team is making a big fundraising push right now and we wanted to send you a note highlighting three of Pramila’s massive efforts so far in the second quarter.
- Pramila’s push to end the filibuster: The House has passed a long list of critical legislation that is stuck in the Senate if we don’t end the racist, undemocratic filibuster. In order to pass historic voting rights protections, enact gun safety legislation, get big money out of politics, make D.C. a state, protect the environment, pass the Dream Act, and so much more, the filibuster needs to go! That’s why Pramila is helping lead a nationwide push to speak out about ending the filibuster and pressure the Senate to get rid of it.
- Introducing College for All with Bernie Sanders: Pramila and Bernie introduced a landmark bill to ensure everyone can attend public college, community college, or trade school without going into debt. The College for All Act will end the debt spiral that too many working families find themselves in by eliminating tuition and fees at public colleges and universities for families making up to $125,000. That's nearly 80 percent of families in America. The bill also makes community college and trade schools FREE for every person across the country.
- Pramila is leading on expanding Medicare as we fight for Medicare for All: Pramila has helped lead the push alongside Bernie Sanders to pressure Congress and President Biden to expand, improve, and empower Medicare. The goal is to (1) lower the eligibility age of Medicare to open it up to more than 40 million more people, (2) require Medicare to cover dental, vision, and hearing care, and (3) lower prescription drug prices for everyone. This would be a transformative change to our broken, for-profit health care system on our way to Medicare for All.
