We have great news from The Badger State!
This week, with a resounding 58-36 vote, the state Assembly approved the Convention of States Resolution!
Prior to the vote, about 50 grassroots volunteers gathered to visit with their legislators and thank them for their support of the Resolution.
Our legislative sponsors and supporters courageously defended the Resolution during the floor debate, including Reps. Vruwink, Vos, Gundrum, Allen, Schraa, and Knodl.
“The Federal Government is broken and can’t be fixed from within," said Speaker Robin Vos. “I do hope… we can get the rest of the country to realize that states are where the primary role of government should be, not the federal government with nameless, faceless bureaucrats and unfortunately unaccountable politicians.”
The Wisconsin Convention of States team has worked long and hard to educate their legislators on the tool the Founders gave us in Article V, and they are going to continue to grow the grassroots army of self-governing citizens.
They are planning a large rally in September on the steps of the Capitol, and they are reaching out to constituents to gain support for a full Senate vote later this year.
