We will not celebrate Eid with a President who justifies the killing of our brothers & sisters in Palestine Dear Supporter, The Biden administration plans to hold an online Eid celebration on Sunday, May 16th for the Muslim community. The recent statements made by President Biden - personally, by White House spokesperson Jen Psaki, and by Department of State spokesperson Ned Price - regarding the oppression that the Palestinian people are subjected to are outrageous and complicit. The statements not only completely ignore the Israeli assault on Al-Aqsa and the Muslims worshipping inside, the expulsion taking place in the Jerusalem neighborhoods of Sheikh Jarrah and Al Bustan, and the ongoing siege of Gaza that has already claimed the lives of hundreds, but also have the audacity to lay the blame on the victims: the Palestinian people. Our beloved messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) said “the Muslim Ummah is like one body. If the eye is in pain then the whole body is in pain and if the head is in pain then the whole body is in pain, if one member is sick then the other members of this body will take care of the sick one.” We cannot celebrate Eid with a President who justifies the killing of our brothers and sisters in Palestine! The United States is a party to the war crimes committed by Israel given that the US government funds the illegal occupation to the tune of a minimum $3.8 billion annually. Those funds are used to purchase weapons from US manufacturers to be used on the Palestinian people. In addition to the unconditional financial backing, the US government provides political cover, supresses the Palestinian narrative, blocks the UN from taking action, and condemns human rights groups for calling out Israel’s apartheid regime and the decades long oppression of the Palestinian people. A strong rebuke of this callous response by the Biden administration is necessary. We will not allow the White House exploit our holy Eid celebrations for political gain at the expense of the Palestinian people. In a show of solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and sisters in Palestine, the United States and around the world, a coalition of Muslims nationwide is urging our Muslim community to boycott the White House event and join the “Eid with Palestine: A Protest of the White House Eid” event.
Join the call for justice, human rights and liberation of the Palestinian people. Boycott the White House Eid event and sign the petition below demanding an end to the agression on the Palestinian people and accountibility for Israel. Onward,
Taher Herzallah
