We knew this moment was coming. It’s been one year since Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court, and the new 5-4 anti-abortion majority of the Supreme Court is chomping at the bit to reconsider the 2016 Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt decision that clearly laid out the unconstitutionality of the Texas abortion clinic shutdown law. The case the Supreme Court will consider is the exact same law in Louisiana.
There are no new questions about the importance of access to abortion here, just a new Supreme Court justice who has a long, disturbing history with abortion rights. And women.
Here’s the thing: They can make abortion impossible to access in a clinic. They can make it illegal. They can continue violating human rights and throwing people in jail for abortion and miscarriage. But no matter what they do, they will never be able to wave a magic wand and make abortion pills disappear. Reproaction is proud to continue our grassroots community mobilization to get the word out about self-managed abortion with pills.
