Friend, Who is Winsome Sears? Virginia Republican Party insiders made an unexpected choice at their convention, rejecting well-known candidates with long histories in the General Assembly for a far-right outsider. The Republican base is moving even further to the extreme, and nominating Winsome Sears is the latest example.

Sears was Amanda Chase’s pick for lieutenant governor, and she earned the endorsements of extremists like E.W. Jackson and Bob Good. She’s an ardent Trump supporter and has an A rating from the NRA.

And, as we’ve seen with far-right republicans, there’s certainly more where that came from.
