Friend,
A fatal mistake of many elected officials is not communicating with residents during non-election years. But not Rashida.
When Rashida passes legislation in Congress, she does so in partnership with members of her district.
That’s why, this year, she’s introduced and passed two bills that her residents have asked for: removing credit barriers for millions of Americans and expanding homeownership opportunities by pushing for more support for small-dollar mortgages.
As part of Rashida’s commitment to community outreach, our campaign is in the midst of thousands of neighbor-to-neighbor calls, discussing with members of our community what issues are impacting them the most and how Rashida can help.
We’re not just speaking with supporters. We’re also calling folks who may have voted for Rashida’s last primary opponent, or may not have voted at all last year.
What we’re hearing is that people are having trouble affording housing; they’re concerned about a lack of investment in education for our youth; their mail delivery has been slowed down by Trump’s Postmaster General; access to affordable healthcare is increasingly out of reach; and that racist over-policing is making our communities less safe.
It’s these kinds of deep connections to her constituents’ needs that drive Rashida’s work in Congress and in her community.
We have a goal of making thousands of needs assessment calls this spring and summer to hear directly from Rashida’s constituents and ensure they’re receiving the services they need.
Can you donate today to power our campaign’s efforts to ensure we hear voices and meet the needs of everyday people in Rashida’s district―the third poorest congressional district in the country?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your secure donation will go through immediately:
This is a non-election year, but in order to reach more residents, connect them with resources, and engage more people in the political process, we’ve kept more staff on the campaign than in the past.
Our organizing and political outreach isn’t slowing down just because Rashida isn’t on the ballot this year.
Staying rooted in community is why Rashida launched a campaign school and a youth fellowship this year through her newly-created Rooted in Community Leadership PAC―to train future leaders who are already giving back to their communities. And that’s why our campaign is making thousands of neighbor-to-neighbor calls, to make sure everyone’s voice is heard and respected.
For too long, our communities have been marginalized and devalued by our government.
Donate to Rashida’s reelection campaign today to power our neighbor-to-neighbor calls in this non-election year―because there should be no off-years in meeting people’s needs.
-Team Rashida
