Supporting Our Veterans

On Sunday, June 13th, the New York Young Republican Club will be participating in the 11th Annual Tank Pull Challenge to support veterans, especially those wounded in combat, to ensure that their service is never forgotten. The Tank Pull Challenge has donated over one million dollars to date for local wounded warriors and veterans in need.

The event will take place in Clifton, NJ, and we are looking for nine more participants to join our team! If you think you have what it takes to pull an 80,000-pound US Army tank, please consider joining our team. Even if you cannot participate, you can still support this cause by donating. All donations will benefit the following local veteran organizations, and our team’s goal is to raise $300 on top of the $1,500 already contributed to enter our team in the event!

  • Independence Corps: Providing chairs for military amputees and wounded
  • Paramus Veterans Home: Supporting veterans by purchasing unbudgeted medical devices
  • Catholic Charities Unmet Needs Veteran Fund: Helping Veterans who are most in need
  • Clifton Care: Managing the assembly and shipment of care packages for deployed troops
  • Clifton Veteran’s Association: Helping veterans with disabilities
  • Wreaths Across America: Inspiring the community to remember and honor those who have served
  • Semper Fi Odyssey: Orchestrating a holistic transition assistance program that provides injured and critically ill active-duty military service members and veterans support
  • NJSOSVETS Women Veterans Committee: Providing women veterans training and educational opportunities

We encourage all members and non-members to give whatever they can to help us hit our $300 goal! Our veterans fought and sacrificed mentally and physically for our freedom, and it’s our turn to fight for them. Please share, donate, or join us to support our efforts in helping our local wounded warriors and veterans through these outstanding organizations!

Donations can be made here. Please indicate in the notes “Tank Pull.” For more detailed information about the Tank Pull Challenge, please visit their website here.

Statement On Hamas Aggression Towards The State Of Israel

The New York Young Republican Club fervently condemns Hamas’s reprehensible and unjustifiable attacks against Israel. Equally, we condemn members of Congress, such as the so-called “Jihad Squad,” who twist historical fact to malign Israel’s reputation and to question its very integrity as a sovereign state. We call upon local and national leaders to show solidarity with Israel and its right to self-defense.

Israel’s adversaries paused their attempts to hurt and destroy Israel when President Donald J. Trump stood in the Oval Office. Early in his presidency, President Trump reaffirmed the importance of Israeli-American ties by delivering on his campaign promise to move the American embassy to Jerusalem and to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The Trump Administration also reinstated sanctions on Iran in coordination with Israel and several other Gulf states, diminishing Iran’s ability to fund Hamas terrorists. President Trump and his foreign relations team even attempted to broker a peace deal between Israel and Palestine. While that peace deal did not go far, his administration achieved the unthinkable: the normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Sudan. As such, Israel and Arab leaders have been able to achieve more than many thought was possible by engaging with each other and providing a new strategic headache to Iran and its terror cells in Palestine and beyond.

Unfortunately, President Joe Biden unraveled much of the progress made in the Middle East during President Trump’s time in office. The Biden Administration has cozied up to the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Biden has blamed Israel for undermining the stability and self-determination of the Palestinian people and restored and increased U.S. aid to Palestinians despite their disinterest in any meaningful attempt at conflict resolution. American money funded Hamas rockets, not aid for the Palestinian people, and the Biden Administration deserves condemnation for the Israeli blood on their hands.

While we commend the Biden Administration for (finally) condemning Hamas and supporting Israel’s right to self-defense, we unequivocally denounce its weak, “stand back” approach when it comes to Israel.

Hamas’s founding charter clearly lays out its ultimate goal, “Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it.” As a terrorist organization that feeds off hatred and calls for eradicating the state of Israel, Hamas will not accept peace, nor should we expect it to do so. The New York Young Republican Club finds recent comments made by Senators Sanders and Warren and Representatives Omar, Tlaib, Presley, and Ocasio-Cortez accusing Israel of terrorism and blaming it for the violence unbelievable and inexcusable. There is no moral equivalency between the nation of Israel and a terrorist organization such as Hamas that uses civilian women and children as human shields and then cries foul when Israeli self-defense actions result in casualties among this population.

The New York Young Republican Club demands that Congress maintain its bipartisan record of providing security assistance to Israel. We also call for the cessation of all hostile activity from Gaza and demand that Hamas be held accountable for its crimes. We hope that the Biden Administration does not cave to the anti-Semitic and anti-Israel tendencies of the far-left members of his party.

Establishing An Asian-American Caucus

We all have our stories and Asian-Americans are no different. For too long the Democratic Party has disregarded the interests of Asian-Americans while always gaining their votes in significant numbers. From the lack of support for law enforcement to protect Asian-American communities to the quota numbers against performing Asian-American students in our nation’s best schools.

To combat these efforts, members of the New York Young Republican Club have gathered to create the Asian-American Caucus under the terms of the Club’s Bylaws.

Through this caucus, we will conduct outreach to a community left behind by the traditional GOP even though we share many common themes with the parties from fiscal conservatism, to traditional family values to respect for the law and institutions. In the end, we hope to forever abolish the notion of the perpetual foreigner. We intend to expand the grassroots approach to ensure its continued success while educating voters on how their values better resonate in the Republican Party, and to mobilize within their communities and beyond for the betterment of the nation we all share and love.
