We'll speak on the nature of Black and Asian mutual political support and how both communities can together build a dynamic multiracial movement that builds power for all people of color.

Solidarity.

It’s a unifying feeling or purpose among a group of people.

It’s also a strategy for combating injustice and advancing a free and safe society.

This Asian America Pacific Islander Heritage Month, in addition to celebrating the contributions of the AAPI community to our nation, we’re also discussing how greater solidarity between the AAPI and Black community could advance the collective liberation of all people of color. Join us for two special Instagram Live conversations on May 17 and May 19 from 6:00-6:45 p.m. ET with all-star guests Simran Jeet Singh and Ed Tepporn.

On May 17, join Judith Browne Dianis and nationally recognized equity and inclusion expert, Simran Jeet Singh, for a discussion on ways the AAPI and Black community can stand in greater solidarity with each other, and the role joy and empathy play in fostering greater unity. On May 19, tune in to a special conversation with Ted Tepporn, national immigration leader and Executive Director of the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation as we explore how greater solidarity can help both communities build power, take collective action and combat white supremacy.

We know that a world where people of color are free and safe will come through the work of a multiracial movement for social justice. Ahead of the conversation, learn more on how Black & AAPI solidarity has positively changed our nation. Explore narrative tools like our COVID-19 Social Justice Phrase Guide, created in collaboration with the Asian American Pacific Islander American Health Forum (AAPIAHF), to learn how language can dispel myths and combat bigotry around the coronavirus pandemic.

During both conversations, additional strategies, tools and resources on solidarity will be shared! Give your thoughts and reactions during the conversations using #AAPIHeritageMonth.

Join us for these crucial conversations on our Instagram Live.

We look forward to seeing you then.
