Attend the Special Session Jam in Tallahassee

Dear Friends:

Democratic Party leaders from around the state are working together to bring hundreds of volunteers and activists up to Tallahassee for the Special Session next Tuesday, May 18, returning home the following day.

This trip is intended to accomplish two purposes: (1) Show love and appreciation to our Democratic state legislative delegation who continue to fight for all Democrats against all odds and 2) Stand on the Capitol steps at a rally to learn more about the gaming legislation that Governor, Ron DeSantis,  is attempting to "Jam" through the Legislature. 
 
In 2018, 72% of Florida voters approved Amendment 3, making the citizen initiative process the exclusive method of authorizing casino gambling on non-tribal lands.

There are sponsored charter buses leaving from Miami and Fort Lauderdale (overnight trips), Orlando and Tampa (turn around trips).  These buses have been sponsored by Florida's Future First, and there is an expectation that the bus riders will attend the rally.  WE are NOT expected to weigh in on any particular "issue" in any way - that is an individual choice. Hotel accommodations and food are the responsibility of attendees.

The tentative Schedule:

May 18
4:00 A.M.: Bus departs from Broward Teachers Union, 6000 N. University Drive, Tamarac, FL 33321 

12:00 Noon: Buses arrive - riders will receive a boxed lunch, bottled water, a "Special Session Jam 2021" t-shirt and "We Got Your Back" Blue Heart calling cards for you to personalize (ex: Thank you for working so hard! From....)  and leave for our Democratic Legislators  in the Capitol.  Imagine our Democratic Leaders returning to their office to a stack of dozens of blue heart "thank you" cards!? 

1:00 P.M.: Attend the Rally at the old Capitol Steps - we are expecting some Democratic Legislators to be in attendance, so wear or wave your "Special Session Jam 2021" (with a big blue heart) proudly in support of our Dems! 

2:00 P.M.: Visit with our Dem leaders in the Capitol or leave them your personalized "calling card" (Yes, the Capitol is finally open!) and think about voicing your concerns to the Republican legislators so they know that we're not OK with the legislation that they have "Jammed" down our throats during the Regular Session. 

4:00 - 5:30P.M.: Buses leave the Capitol returning to Orlando and Tampa 

4:30 P.M.: Check into hotels if staying the night 

6:00 - 8:00P.M.: Legislative Appreciation Reception at "The War Horse Whiskey Bar/Gaines Street Pies"
