Vote From Home

John,

Unless there is a fundamental change soon, Republicans will take control of the Senate and House in 2022. With over 360 voter suppression bills in the works, voters of color are being targeted with almost surgical precision.

There is only one way to prevent a 2022 red wave: by organizing on the ground early. Our team helped thousands of swing state voters cast their ballots, and we’re ready to get to work for the midterms. We are counting on you to donate $25 so we can talk to voters now.

What’s happened this week: Marjorie Taylor Greene is harassing Democrats on Capitol Hill, Rep. Liz Cheney was removed from her role for speaking up about the insurrection only to be replaced by a Trump devotee, and the GOP continues to stay mum about the conspiracy theorists rising to power in their party. What’s bad for our democracy is great for Republican fundraising, and their coffers in preparation for 2022.

This week we also saw a leaked video from the GOP dark money fundraiser where they outlined the coordinated effort to pass voter suppression bills in our targeted states, Georgia and Iowa. The group, Heritage Action, proudly says they are writing the bills, and Republican legislators are doing exactly what they want.

And with a name like “heritage,” it’s no surprise they’re pushing racist voter suppression bills.

Now, here’s what else has happened this week:

  • Arizona GOP signed into law a bill that could purge an estimated 150,000 voters from the states vote by mail list.
  • The “fraudit” is still underway in Arizona, and there are major legitimate concerns about the security of the ballots and voters’ information. While Secretary Hobbs has been a fervent supporter of voting rights during this process, the conspiracy theorists leading the "fraudit" are well-funded and backed by the GOP base.
  • The Texas GOP passed a voter suppression bill with the same language used by white supremacists to openly deny the vote to Black Americans in the Jim Crow era.
  • The first major election coming up won’t be the midterms, it will be the gubernatorial and legislative elections in Virginia this year. The GOP just nominated a far-right candidate that wants to enact voting suppression laws in the commonwealth.
  • In Ohio, Republicans have introduced a voter suppression bill that includes limiting drop boxes and making it harder to request absentee ballots.

Some good news: The Senate confirmed two of Biden’s nominees to the USPS Board of Governors. This is the first step to replacing Louis DeJoy, vote by mail enemy who is shrinking the USPS budget and slowing mail delivery. The Senate also held a hearing that makes passage of the For The People Act (also known as H.R. 1) slightly more likely.

How can we have more good news, John?

Vote From Home is dedicated to on-the-ground organizing to prevent a Republican landslide. But we need your support. Can you chip in $25?
