Today, six DACA recipients met with President Biden [[link removed]] to talk about the importance of passing a pathway to citizenship. This move signals that immigration is a big priority for the Biden administration. However, we can’t ignore the fact that DACA is still under imminent threat. Only a pathway to citizenship can provide a more certain future for the more than 600,000 Dreamers currently living in the United States, and we’re hopeful that Congress can come together and get it done.

On Tuesday, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey signed into law a bill [[link removed]] that could remove around 200,000 voters—including 50,000 Latinx voters—from Arizona’s early ballot mailing list. Until now, voters on that list were automatically sent a ballot for every election. But, starting after the 2024 elections, the new law will remove voters from the list if they don’t vote early at least once in two consecutive two-year election cycles or respond to a notice from election officials. Here's what we know: We need to make voting easier and not harder—especially for communities of color—and we'll fight to stop any legislation that tries to silence our voices.

And Updates
This past weekend, we wrapped up our fifth virtual Ready to Lead training of 2021—Ready to Lead Southeast! We look forward to working together to change the face of leadership and create a democracy that represents all Americans, not just the wealthy and well-connected.

Yesterday, we had a special Tea on Democracy webinar for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, where we were joined by Burien (WA) City Councilmember Sofia Aragon; Georgia State Senator Michelle Au; founder and president of the Asian Community Development Council Vida Lin; and executive director of RUN AAPI Linh Nguyen, four incredible leaders in our movement.
They shared how AAPI womxn are leading the way in fighting hate, empowering our communities, and changing the face of leadership. Watch the recording of the discussion here [[link removed]] !

The AAPI community is the fastest growing demographic in the U.S., but they account for less than 1% of all elected leaders. That has to change.
Join our 501(c)(4) partner New American Leaders Action Fund and Run for Something on Tuesday, May 18th for a special webinar for prospective (and current) AAPI candidates! RSVP here [[link removed]] .
