John,
It's time for another endorsement -- because there's
no such thing as an "off-year" in politics.
We're proud to support Isaac Bryant in the special election to fill California state Assembly District 54, which covers parts of the Westside and South Los Angeles.
More on Isaac in a second, but it's important to note that
we're able to support him and other candidates who are dedicated to Black liberation because of our monthly donors.
There are hundreds of city, county, and state races this year. These are the folks that will have a say on police budgets, raising the minimum wage, and so many other things that directly impact the future of Black lives.
For us to get involved in more races, we need to have the confidence that the money is there to do the work. That's where the dedicated folks who donate every month come in -- they provide the stability we need to do this.
So John -- what do you say? Will you become a monthly recurring donor for Black Lives Matter PAC so we can elect leaders like Isaac across the country who are dedicated to Black liberation?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Isaac comes from a family of 15 -- 9 of whom (including him) were adopted. And even with the love and support of his family, he struggled. He failed out of middle school and attended three different high schools. Even with these struggles, he went on to earn a Master's degree in public policy from UCLA.
He's the founder of the UCLA Black Policy Project, a multi-issue policy initiative that has informed legislation at all levels of government. Isaac was also co-chair of the Measure J campaign (which we endorsed, too!), which fought to allocate nearly a billion dollars to address racial injustice through investments in youth development, job training, small business development, supportive housing, and alternatives to incarceration in LA County.
In short, Isaac is exactly the kind of candidate that we need to see more of.
The electoral aspect of our protest is crucial to making systemic change so we can put an end to white supremacy and achieve Black liberation once and for all. But making that happen takes work. Because we know the forces of white supremacy will line up and spend millions to defeat candidates who will fight for Black liberation and racial justice.
It's on us, John, to make sure candidates like Isaac have the support they need to defeat white supremacy at the ballot box and in the halls of power. Will you become a recurring donor to BLM PAC to help fuel our efforts up and down the ballot?
Yes! I'd like to become a monthly recurring donor
No, but I'll make a one time donation
In love and solidarity,
Black Lives Matter PAC
